Sex workers disproportionately experience violence. Around the world, December 16th is a day where allies and advocates come together to remember the lives lost and renew our commitment to the ongoing struggle for empowerment, visibility, and rights for all sex workers.
This December 16th, we will also renew our commitment to solidarity. The majority of violence against sex workers is not only just that - it is also violence against youth, against women of color, people who use drugs, immigrants, and people who identify as queer and transgender. We cannot end the marginalization and victimization of sex workers without also combatting transphobia, racism, stigma and criminalization of drug use, and xenophobia. Therefore, our event will simultaneously honor local Trans women of color doing amazing work for the community.
